THE GNLU LEGAL SERVICES FUNDING GRANT 2019
The GNLU Legal Services Funding Grant (henceforth ‘Grant’) is a first of its kind initiative by an Indian University, started in the 3rd edition of the GNLU Annual Legal Services Forum 2018. It seeks to honour and support impactful and meaningful socio-legal initiatives by Legal Services Committee (LSC)/ Legal Aid Clinic (LAC) in India. The Grant shall be presented to the LSC/LAC which embodies an efficient work ethic and promises to effect positive change in society through its activities. The Grant hopes to recognize and encourage students in undertaking socio-legal initiatives and aims to further their drive and impact on the community.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE
PRIZE
The winner of the ‘GNLU Legal Services Funding Grant 2019’ will receive a total cash prize of INR 35,000, a Trophy and Certificate of Merit. The Grant shall be issued on a quarterly basis for the activities conducted April 2019 onwards for a period of one year, subject to submission of detailed report of activities conducted, outcome of the activities and expenditure incurred for the same for all the quarters alongside a brief report outlining the outcome of the activities.

REGISTRATION
- Any College/University/Institution in India with a LSC/LAC which is functional is eligible to participate. All LSC/LAC operating in any SAARC Nation is also eligible to participate, however such LSC/LAC shall not be considered for the Funding Grant prize money. Each LSC/LAC must register through the following link by 29th March 2019 :
- Each LSC/LAC shall pay INR 2000 (inclusive of GST charges) for participation. The fee shall cover participation fee for the Forum, meals for each of the 2 Presenting Members but shall exclude accommodation. The said registration fee may be waived off for an LSC/LAC which is in financial distress at the discretion of the Organising Committee.
- Each participating LSC/LAC is allowed to send 2 Presenting Members as representatives. An additional member may represent the LSC/LAC on payment of INR 1000 (inclusive of GST charges) as registration fee.
- A payment link shall be sent to each LSC/LAC by the last week of March upon submission of the Report and Presentation material. The last date for payment is 29th March 2019 .
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION
- The participating LSC/LAC is required to send a Presentation (Video or PowerPoint Presentation), a Report detailing all activities undertaken by the concerned LSC/LAC in the past one year (as on 15 March 2019) and a Proposal of future activities intended to be carried out which may reflect one of the Themes of the Forum.
- The total length of the Report cannot exceed more than 25 pages. Annexures, up to a maximum of 5 pages, may be attached to the Report. The annexures may contain tables, pictures or other forms of additional supplementary material to be considered by the Panel of Evaluators.
- The Proposal must contain:
- Vision of the LSC;
- Mission of the LSC;
- List of projects proposed to be undertaken over the course of one year starting from April 2019;
- Statement of problem/social issues sought to be addressed by the LSC;
- Methodology for implementation of the project;
- Location of implementation of the project;
- Proposed timeline of each project, whether a one-time activity or to be undertaken on a continuous basis;
- Resources required for each project.
- The Report and Proposal must be authored in English only. The Report and Proposal should be typed in Times New Roman, Font Size 12 and Line Spacing 1.5. All text must be justified. The Report and Proposal must be sent in .doc /.docx and .pdf format.
- The entries must be sent by email to [email protected] with the subject ‘GNLU Legal Services Funding Grant 2019’ by 15th March 2019 .
- The body of the email must specify the name(s) of the presenter(s), wherein a maximum of 2 members shall be allowed. The body of the e-mail must specify the name of the college/ university/ institution.
- The first page of the Report must contain the following details:
- Name of the College/ University/ Institution
- Name(s) of Head(s)/ Convener(s)
- E-mail Address & Contact No.
- A newly established LSC/LAC may be exempted from submitting the Report of past activities upon permission from the Organising Committee. If exempted, then such non-submission of Report will not have any bearing on evaluation of the Proposal.
EVALUATION PROCEDURE
- Entries received shall be judged on the following criteria:
- Sustainability (Resource availability and effective usage of the same to create social impact)
- Social Impact (Identification of beneficiaries, reach in terms of persons and territory, the outcome and difference the programs have created)
- Innovation (Uniqueness of the project and utilization of new methods of execution)
- Presentation (Clarity in objectives of a project and creative descriptions of the undertaken activities)
- The Report, Proposal and the Presentation video shall be marked by an external Panel of Evaluators who shall choose the winning entry based on scores awarded for the Report and Proposal.
